States of Being

I intend viewers to experience these photographs as an altered reality that fluctuates between two states of being. By definition photographs reference the physical nature of light reflected off objects. However there is unexpected visual information in my photographs that converts them from references of nature to resemblances of objects and landscapes. The images resemble enough to trigger recognition; they dissemble enough to elicit contemplation.

I use the camera as a recording device to simultaneously capture arrested and prolonged moments with multiple perspectives of the same object. I am interested in creating a visual dialogue between layers of reality, one in stasis and the other in movement. The composite creates a transition between one state of time and space and another. Intertwined, the state of the objects merge in and out of each other.

The combined multiple states reveal a constantly changing reality where hidden energy vibrates just under the surface. The camera sensor registers the traces of light that originate from an authentic multidimensional reality. I translate the result into a multilayered story of nature in flux as I try to reveal the spiritual meaning that I can sense embedded within each entity.
